Geis is testing Cargometer’s on-the-fly freight dimensioning system at several road locations since the beginning of this year

CARGOMETERs Scan-In-Motion tecnology scans barcodes

At several Road sites, the Geis Group has been testing CARGOMETER’s “on-the-fly” freight dimensioning system this year.

The innovative Scan-in-Motion module automatically determines the weight and volume of each shipment while the forklift is moving.

Geis’ innovation management team accompanied the pilot phase with a Bachelor’s thesis, resulting in an excellent study titled “On-the-fly – Freight Dimensioning System”, including a detailed market analysis.

“Cargometer saves the entire process time for measuring and weighing and the utilization of our trucks can be optimized. This also means fewer journeys and therefore an advantage for our environment.”

A 10x10 cm big 2D Code

The interface between each shipment and the measurement system is a 10 × 10 cm label with a 2D code, created at unloading and attached to every pallet.

CARGOMETER’s Scan-in-Motion system automatically detects and reads the code. While driving through the measurement zone, dimensions and weight are indexed to each package ID – without manual barcode scanning.
