Ramazan Güngör, Engin Ugurluel und Markus Jaksch von Gebrüder Weiss GmbH Nürnberg
The employees of Gebrüder Weiss GmbH Nuremberg were happy to receive the “Top Performer Award 2020”, with which CARGOMETER honored its outstanding system users.
The award ceremony took place directly in the Nuremberg branch in a small but fine setting. CARGOMETER Managing Director Michael Baumgartner presented the trophy, specially created by ceramic artist Gudrun Kainz, to those who work with Cargometer every day in the warehouses and guarantee smooth, quality logistics for all of us.
Engin Ugurluel, head of the Nuremberg warehouse, was particularly pleased about the award: “At the beginning we were a little skeptical about CARGOMETER in the hall, as we suspected extra work due to the measurements. But the opposite was the case. The process runs without any additional effort and you can then see the result of your efforts in black and white. In the meantime, colleagues are matching up who can perform better; a motivation boost that brings something to the team and the company. ”
Branch manager Alexander Eberharter also thanked his team for the excellent performance with such a high number of measured shipments. The event ended with sparkling wine and Viennese specialties.
More than 20 freight metering companies from Belgium, Germany, Croatia, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic were able to take part. The winners were determined on the basis of Cargometer‘s statistical data. The number of shipments measured and the performance achieved over the entire year were the main criteria for the award.
With the “Top Performer Award”, Cargometer would like to motivate companies in the future to optimize truck utilization and networks by means of freight measurement and consequently to make a valuable contribution to reducing CO2.
It was the moment we had all been waiting for: on 26 April, this year’s IFOY Awards ceremony took place at the Vienna Hofburg to present the world’s most prestigious awards for intralogistics. More than 600 invited guests and numerous speakers, including German Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer, eagerly waited for the winners to be announced. To the great delight of local guests, Vienna-based CARGOMETER took home the coveted trophy in the top category of “Intralogistics Software”.
Intralogistics Software of the Year 2019
The jury’s decision was based not only on the high market relevance of the brand-new intralogistics solution, but also on the significant customer benefit gained through precise calculation of cargo rates and the opportunity to optimise the use of space in the truck. Optimising the cargo network also contributes to sustainable business. “Correct tariff classification after measurement of the freight can increase revenue by up to five percent. Online recording of load dimensions also allows better use to be made of the cargo space. This benefits the consigner, the carrier and the environment”, explained the jury.
What makes the IFOY Award so special
The jury for the IFOY Award, consisting of 29 chief editors of international trade media from different continents, as well as scientific experts, such as the Fraunhofer IML, Helmut Schmidt University, the Technical University of Munich and TU Dresden, nominated three to five solutions per category. The three-part audit focused on the IFOY Test Days, which took place in Hanover in March. The 15 products and solutions selected by the jury underwent a week of practical testing to evaluate a wide range of factors, including innovation and technology, ergonomics and handling, and cost-effectiveness and sustainability.
CARGOMETER – freight dimensioning on the fly
CARGOMETER offers “on-the-fly” freight dimensioning on moving forklifts: the dimensions, weight and barcode (2D codes) of packages are recorded as they pass through the loading gate and are digitally transferred to the customer’s system. In contrast to stationary or manual dimensioning, this allows work to continue uninterrupted. The innovative freight dimensioning solution enables correct allocation of cargo space and optimum fleet utilisation.
A milestone for the company
Dr Michael Baumgartner, Managing Director of CARGOMETER GmbH, said about the award: “We are incredibly pleased to be invited up to the stage alongside the best of the best. Our vision is to optimise networks and increase utilisation, and thereby to conserve resources. Our journey to Europe continues – CARGOMETER aims to revolutionise general cargo logistics: away from manual measurement and towards fully automated dimensioning and weighing. Away from barcodes and towards machine-readable 2D codes.”
CARGOMETER’s freight dimensioning system impresses judges at the Mobility 2017 national awards.
Vienna business CARGOMETER was nominated for the national Mobility prize from an impressive variety of projects entered, along with AVL list and Kreisel-Akku. The prize is considered to be the highest accolade that the Austrian Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit) can award an Austrian business.
CARGOMETER won points thanks to its fully-automated 3D freight dimensioning system for moving forklifts. Currently, around 15 percent of cargoes are allocated incorrect tariffs due to imprecise measurement data. This results in poor utilisation of the loading spaces and consequent financial and environmental costs. CARGOMETER’s goal is to avoid these costs, with a new system that is able to take precise measurements of the goods as the moving forklift passes through the loading gate. With the motto “Every millimetre counts”, CARGOMETER is establishing new standards for freight dimensioning and capacity optimisation for large HGV fleets.
At the awards ceremony on 27 November 2017, held in the Museum of Applied Arts, Transport Minister Mag. Jörg Leichtfried praised the winning projects for their fantastic solutions. Managing director Dr Michael Baumgartner: “We are incredibly happy to be players at this level. Our big-picture vision is to reduce CO2, conserve resources, optimise networks and improve utilisation”. The journey throughout Europe continues – CARGOMETER’s goal is to revolutionise cargo logistics. The nomination for the national prize was an important step towards this goal.
